King Peanut First Stake Winner for Mo for the Money
Arkansas stallion Mo for money represented by his first stake winner on April 8 when Richard Christian’s peanut king went home with $150,000 Rainbow Stakes at Oaklawn Park.

The 3-year-old, bred in Arkansas by Eugenia Thompson Benight, easily beat the state crossbreeds by 3 1/4 to win the second.
Dropped as second pick 9-5 under jockey Francisco Arrieta, King Peanut raced to head-to-head and take the lead with the favored Midnight Tax through opening fractions of : 22.46 and : 45.91. The winner cut the corner in the inning for a lackluster lead and drew to win a final time of 1:10.93 for six long runs on a fast track.
Trained by Daniel Peitz, King Peanut ($5.80) increased his earnings to $156,050 in three starts. He made his debut December 31 in Oaklawn against the Arkansas hybrids.
King Peanut is the fifth winner produced from the Arkansas variety Storm and a half mare Smell the roses . She won the 2009 Rainbow Miss Stakes in Oaklawn.
