It is short-lived, but only for the fleet Kia Niro More purpose-built vehicles (PBVs) were cut locally.
Kia Australia Product Planning General Manager Roland Rivero said auto expert the local market is “one of the test markets” [for Niro Plus] and there is nothing more to come.”
“It was just a very short period of time the supply is now sold out,” said Mr. Rivero.

Essentially, looking like the darling of the first-generation Kia Niro and Rondo, the high-top Niro Plus is aimed at taxi and ride-sharing operators.
Reportedly, a large number of Niro Plus examples were sold to Splend, a car subscription service for carpoolers.
Australia only gets the hybrid (HEV) and electric (EV) versions of the Niro Plus in a single, fleet-focused S specification. They cost $47,710 before on-road and $64,450, respectively, before on-road.
There is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the Niro Plus, but it still doesn’t have a local card. Kia Australia make a similar move when it introduced the second generation Niro last year.
In addition to the Kia Niro Plus, Mr Rivero confirmed that PBV is growing and “of course from Australia we will join that journey”.
He added that the next-generation Kia PBVs will be a “different execution”.

Kia is currently working on four specialized vehicles that will use its new eS platform, which is a dedicated electric skateboard platform. They all have boxy bodies and short overhangs.
The first mode to launch will be a medium-sized mode, codenamed SW, which will launch in 2025. It can not only serve as a delivery vehicle but also as a ride-hailing vehicle.
Small PBV looks close to a Picanto in size, while larger PBVs will be available for shuttle, mobile office and delivery applications.
Kia previously said its small and medium-sized PBVs would offer autonomous driving technology.
