With his unified junior flyweight championship at stake, Kenshiro Teraji 20-1 entered the ring Tuesday in Saitama, Japan to face Hiroto Kyoguchi 16-1 in a scheduled 12th round. WBC title player Teraji and WBA player Kyoguchi have previously met several times in the amateur world, but are now battling for professional standing.
The first round sees every movement and bump well, though Teraji could have looked a bit sharper. Kyoguchi seemed to have been too open-minded for Teraji’s over-the-top rights in the second. Indeed, at the end of the round, Teraji did a great job on his opponent. Although he seems like a highly effective guard, Kyoguchi seems to have been one step behind his man in season three. Throw combo and maintain range, Teraji is basically controlling the action.
In fact, it was hard not to be impressed by Teraji by the fourth man, as the man was attending a boxing clinic. By the end of the round, it seemed he had actually made it to Kyoguchi… although Kyoguchi was able to land well on Teraji a few times it was he who turned the game around in a big way before the bell rang. .
The fifth proves that Teraji has returned to form, as he knocks down his man with a single shot to the body. Kyoguchi stood up, and Teraji broke down. Kyogyuchi was able to survive the round – in fact, he was effectively able to make it on his own before the chapter ended. In fact, Teraji withdrew before the end of the chapter.
Although there were no kills in the sixth round, the fight is making it clear that every man has his moments. By the seventh minute, however, Teraji was able to land a right on land causing the referee to intervene and stop the fight, as Kyoguchi was stumbling back towards the ropes. Teraji is currently the WBC and WBA unified high school flyweight champion.
