Mercedes-Benz begins to use C-Class symbology for W202, that debuted in 1993 as successor W201 hot selling. In the new century (officially started in 2001), the second generation of the entry-level Mercedes-Benz, W203, started landing showrooms. Today gem dump was one of the later W203 C-Classes, found in a boneyard in Colorado Springs a few months ago.
For the 2006 model year, America’s C-Class lineup has been significantly simplified, with coupe and wagon versions receiving the ax. The cheapest ’06 C-Class is the $29,200 C230 Sport Sedan, with the $54,450 hot-rod C55 AMG at the top of the pyramid (those prices would be around $44,671 and around $44,671, respectively). $84,299 in 2023 dollars).
The C280 Luxury Sedan is the next step up to the C230, with a starting price of $32,950 (about $50,408 after inflation) for the rear-wheel drive version. That makes it only a few hundred dollars more expensive than Lexus ES 330.
C-Class has members of new line of V6 engines under the hood for 2006. This 3.0-liter engine is rated at 228 horsepower and 221 pound-feet.
If you wanted a manual transmission in the US market C280 2006, you were out of luck. A seven-speed automatic is required (that year the C230 could be purchased with a six-speed manual, although I’ve never seen a manual).
This one has a pretty nice interior.

It looks like a fender that wasn’t stiff enough to deploy the airbag may have brought the car to its final stop, although we didn’t know what expensive mechanical problems it might have suffered at the time. . Maintenance can’t be overlooked if you want to keep a luxury European machine on the road.
