FIM Intercontinental Games
Motorcycling Australia is pleased to announce that, on behalf of FIM Oceania, it is now accepting expressions of interest from suitably qualified circuit riders to compete in the inaugural FIM Intercontinental Games (ICG) later this year.
Held on Saturday, November 30 to Sunday, December 1, the FIM Intercontinental Games (ICG) will see competition from six FIM Continental Unions (CONUs) from around the world, including FIM Oceania, at Circuit de Jerez, Spain, where they will compete at Circuit de Jerez, Spain. The team consists of four people, combined with a total of eight riders, in two categories: Supersport and Supersport 300.

Using the Yamaha YZF-R7 and YZF-R3 motorcycles supplied by Yamaha Racing, the ICG is an exciting new concept designed to evaluate the athletic skills of riders in a group environment for events in future.
Each of the six Continental FIM Federations is responsible for selecting riders for each category where the minimum requirement to complete a team is one male and one female in each category. As part of this process, an ‘expert’ rider may be appointed, where they can compete in the FIM World Championship and they will be the nominated team captain.

This exciting opportunity has a number of incentives included, with selected riders having their expenses covered in the areas of travel, accommodation, transportation and meals. In addition, Yamaha motorcycles, tires, fuel, piston rings, rider safety gear and Team Oceania uniforms will be provided to the selected rider lineup.

The establishment of the ICG was a creation of the FIM whose goal was to create opportunities for riders from different parts of the world to come together in the spirit of competition. Following the initial run of the ICG, the event will be repeated every six months to add more disciplines to the ICG, with plans to enter off-road racing in 2026.

FIM Oceania President, Peter Doyle, is delighted to see this idea become a reality and looks forward to following the fortunes of the FIM Oceania Team in Spain.
“The FIM Intercontinental Games is an exciting new initiative driven by the FIM as the world governing body of motor sport,” he said. “It’s great to have the FIM Oceania Team come to Spain and represent the Oceania region at an Olympic-style event.
“The potential for this event to grow over the coming years through additional sectors makes this a truly unique event to participate in. I encourage all suitably qualified circuit race participants across the FIM Oceania region to apply for selection to compete with the FIM Oceania team at this exciting event.”
