FINA World Championships: Kenisha Gupta finishes 32nd in 100m freestyle qualifying, ineligible for semi-finals
India’s Kenisha Gupta placed 32nd overall in the hot 100m freestyle at the FINA World Championships in Budapest on Wednesday. The 19-year-old swimmer finished with a time of 57.99 seconds and failed to reach the semifinals, only the top 16 swimmers made it through.
Australia’s Mollie O’Callaghan was placed first overall in the match with a time of 53.49 seconds.

Shubhankar Sharma tests positive for Covid, excluded from BMW International Open
Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma on Wednesday tested positive for Covid-19.
He took to twitter to announce that he will miss the BMW International Open golf tournament starting on June 23, 2022.
He wrote: “I am very disappointed to withdraw from #BMWInternationalOpen, due to #Covid. I waited until the last moment, but all in vain (SIC). We had a good shot at @TheOpen, this week too. , such is life.”

Khelendrajit let Ankur down in the 83rd National Youth and Junior Table Tennis Championships
Qualifier Yengkhom Khelendrajit (Manipur) defeated top seed Ankur Bhattacharjee (Bengal) to reach the quarterfinals in the Men’s Youth (under 17) category in the 83rd National Youth and Junior Table Tennis Championships at NC John Memorial Arena YMCA TT takes place on Wednesday.
Khelendrajit’s defensive play put him in a good position against Ankur, who was struggling to find a rhythm in his game. After losing close to the first set of 10-12, Ankur bounced back to take the second set with a score of 11-7.

Ronaldo takes silver in sprint event to take 3rd, India finishes fifth in total medals
Ronaldo Singh won the silver medal in the men’s sprint on the closing day of the Asian Cycling Championships at the Indira Gandhi Velodrome on Wednesday.
It was the third medal for Ronaldo, who had previously won bronze in the one-kilometer test and team sprint.
Birjit Yumnam won bronze in the 15-kilometer track in the juniors section, and was one point ahead of silver.
In the women’s 10 km locomotive race, Chayanika Gogoi won bronze. India ranked seventh in the seniors section, with four silver and 13 bronze medals. Japan came out on top with 15 gold, seven silver and two bronze medals.

World Cup Paris: Indian archers fail in team events
Tarundeep Rai and Ankita Bhakat emerged as the best Indian archers in the individual periodic standings at Round 3 of the Archery World Cup in Paris on Wednesday.
Tarundeep obtained 670 points to rank 27th among men. Returning players Pravin Jadhav (668), Jayanta Talukdar (667) and Neeraj Chauhan (649) won 30, 32 and 73 positions respectively.
Ankita collected 644 points to rank 31st among women.
Deepika Kumari, back on the Indian side, was inconsistent as she had a four and a miss before picking up 638 points to make it 37.
Simranjeet Kaur (638) is 38 years old, while Ridhi Phor (626) is 54 years old.
The Indian men’s team (2005) is eighth and the women’s team (1920) is 13. The mixed team (1314) is also 13.

Indian women’s hockey team beat Ukraine 3-0 in U-23 5-nation tournament
Dublin, June 22 (PTI) The Indian women’s hockey team continues its unbeaten run in the national under-23 tournament with a 3-0 victory over Ukraine on Wednesday.
Nikita Toppo (33th), Manju Chorsiya (44th) and Beauty Dungdung (55th), each scored a goal as India outperformed their opponents in the match.
Ukraine enjoyed the first corner within 5 minutes, but the Indian defense successfully saved it. India gradually mastered the game, looking for PCs to back it up, but couldn’t take advantage of it.
India earned another goal in the second half but once again squandered the opportunity as the two teams entered the first half goalless.

Indian freestyle wrestler wins Asian team championship in U-17
The Indian freestyle wrestlers won the team championship at the Asian Under-17 Championships in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan by finishing with eight medals, including four gold.
In addition to the four gold medals, the Indians also won two silver and two bronze medals.
The Indians won three golds, one silver and two bronzes in the freestyle on Wednesday.
