Jeep Avenger EV SUV launched in Europe, along with 4×4 concept version

The Jeep Avenger, the Stellantis brand’s first limited production EV, made its official debut at the 2022 Paris auto show on Monday ahead of its expected launch in 2023.

The Avenger is a small crossover that was first shown in September along with a larger version Recon and Wagoneer WILL Electric SUVs, both of which are scheduled to arrive in dealerships in 2024. Unlike those models, the Avenger hasn’t been confirmed for the US, as it’s primarily aimed at Europe.

Jeep has provided a little more detail on the Avenger for the Paris track. Expected to go on sale in 2023 in Europe and some Asian markets, the Avenger measures just 160.6 inches long, or about six inches shorter than the current Jeep Renegade.

That compact size could make the Avenger impossible in the US. This won’t be the first electric Jeep that isn’t sold in the brand’s home market. Europe has been receiving Refresh 4xe and Compass 4xe plug-in hybrids, but they are still not available in the US

The Avenger runs on Stellantis’ CMP modular platform, designed to support both internal combustion and electric powertrains. Jeep has confirmed that the gas-powered Avengers will be offered in certain markets.

The CMP platform has been found under crossovers such as the DS 3 Crossback and the Opel Mokka for the European market, both of which offer internal combustion and all-electric powertrain options.

Power is provided by a single electric motor that sends only 156 horsepower to the front wheels. A 54 kWh battery pack provides an estimated range of more than 200 miles (measured during the European WLTP test cycle) and can be recharged from 20% to 80% in 24 minutes with DC fast charging, Jeep declare.

Despite being front-wheel drive, the Avenger still has some off-road attributes like a respectable 8-inch ground clearance, downhill control, and Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system, which can tune the system. The car is suitable for different surfaces.

The Avenger also gets the expected range of infotainment features, including Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and an available 10.3-inch touchscreen (7.0-inch standard), and driver aids like Automatic emergency braking and highway assist combine adaptive cruise control and active lane control.

Scheduled to be built in Tychy, Poland, the Avenger will help Jeep reach its goal full line of electric vehicles by 2025—If you think globally. Parent Stellantis promised 25 EVs limited in the US by 2030.
