Jamaica vs USA live scores, updates, latest news CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers
The United States men’s national team is soaring at the top of the regional World Cup qualifying rankings after last week’s win over arch-rivals Mexico. Followed by a trip to Kingston, Jamaica – which has proven to be anything but easy in the past (1W-1L-4D US record in qualifying).
Reggae Boyz are falling to sixth (six points) and seven points away from places that could win them an automatic World Cup spot. With five home games in their last seven, Jamaica will be desperate for a home win, starting with the US on Tuesday.
Team U SA is on track for a World Cup spot in the next qualifying round in January 2022, but the loss in Jamaica could complicate things again, depending on other outcomes. The Americans will have two undefeated home matches (vs El Salvador and vs. Honduras) and a trip to Canada in the next 3 matches.

Goal:
America – Timothy Weah – 11th minute.
JAM – Michael Antonio – 22 minutes
(All Eastern Ages)
Round 1: Jamaica 1, USA 1
40th minute: Speaking of VAR – Jamaican right-back Javain Brown flew in with a two-footed lunge at USA captain Tyler Adams and he sent him out. If there is a VAR, it will be a red card.
38th minute: Leon Bailey is examined by Antonee Robinson of the USA on the right flank in attack. Jamaica won a corner, but to no avail. Half of the penalty awarded to Jamaica was awarded a penalty after a ball was blown into the penalty area, but the referee did not award it. Replays show it off the shoulders of Chris Richards. No hand shadow. Reminder: There is no VAR in CONCACAF.
34th minute: Teams play between penalty boxes and make weird fouls. It could be said that this matchup was defined by two solo endeavors. Not much building from either team.
22nd minute: What a goal from Michael Antonio! If you’re a USA fan or goalkeeper Zack Steffen, you’ll take your hat off to the West Ham man with a blast from 30 yards that he blasted under the crossbar. What power is behind that.
21st minute: USMNT takes a free kick to the left. Gianluca Busio with the ball going straight out.
16th minute: Two stellar saves from Jamaican goalkeeper Andre Blake’s shots off target! That US goal has shifted momentum in America’s favor at the moment.
11th minute: Target USA! Unexpected bright moment from Timothy Weah, who made a solo penetration on the left and lifted the ball over Andre Blake’s shoulder from a difficult angle. What you may not know about Weah: His mother is Jamaican.
10th minute: There is no rhythm for this game. No long-term ownership. This starts off sloppy and fickle for both teams.
8th minute: The first yellow of the match and of course it was Je-Vaughn Watson. Wild challenge on Gianluca Busio.
First minute: We go. USA pins in his inning to start the match. Chris Richards is left-back, with Walker Zimmerman in his usual right-back position.
3:53 pm: Young squad. But can it get the job done?
With an average age of 22 years, 341 days, this is the second youngest XI in #USMNT WCQ History. 🇺🇸

Jamaica lineup vs. the USA
In the must-win game at home, Bailey and Antonio started. Coach Theodore Whitmore made two changes to his backline with Liam Moore replacing veteran centre-back Adrian Mariappa and Javain Brown taking over at right-back for Oniel Fisher, who wasn’t even listed on bench.
Jamaica’s starting lineup (4-2-3-1, left to right): 1-Andre Blake-GK – 20-Kemar Lawrence, 17-Damion Lowe, 6-Liam Moore, 14-Javain Brown – 22-Devon “Speedy” Williams, 15-Je-Vaughn Watson – 21-Lamar Walker, 10-Bobby Reid, 7-Leon Bailey – 18-Michail Antonio
Jamaican Submarines (10): Dwayne Miller-GK, Jeadine White-GK, Alvas Powell, Greg Leigh, Adrian Mariappa, Anthony Grant, Ravel Morrison, Junior Flemmings, Cory Burke, Shamar Nicholson
Without Sergino Dest and injured Gio Reyna, Weston McKennie (yellow card) and Miles Robinson (red card) would have to leave the US for suspension, and both would leave significant holes. Gianluca Busio and Chris Richards were substitutes. Those were the only mandatory changes from the Mexico win.
ADVICE: Moving through Mexico, USA is the top dog in CONCACAF
Christian Pulisic started off the bench with a three-man Aaronson-Pepi-Weah front line that performed well against Mexico, getting another start.
US starting lineup (4-3-3, left to right): 1-Zack Steffen-GK – 5-Antonee Robinson, 15-Chris Richards, 3-Walker Zimmerman, 2-DeAndre Yedlin – 16-Gianluca Busio, 4-Tyler Adams (captain), 6-Yunus Musah – 11-Brenden Aaronson , 9-Ricardo Pepi, 20-Tim Weah
United States Submarines (12): 13-Matt Turner-GK, 22-Reggie Cannon, 18-Mark McKenzie, 8-James Sands, 12-Joe Scally, 21-Sam Vines, 23-Kellyn Acosta, 17-Sebastian Lletget, 14-Cristian Roldan, 10-Christian Pulisic, 7-Paul Arriola, 19-Jesus Ferreira
