“The good thing,” Jake Paul said on his podcast, “is that pay-per-view is off the charts damn it.” Of course, he was referring to his bout last weekend where he suffered his first defeat to Tommy Fury’s gloved fist. “Probably going to be the biggest game of the year,” Paul said of the match. “It’s going to be difficult to confront, perhaps Garcia-Davis.” So how much money is Paul talking about here?
“It will probably have over half a million purchases,” he said. That, if true, is an extraordinary number by today’s pay-per-view standards. Moreover, it showed everyone how much charisma Paul, who had competed professionally less than ten times, really was. “The success of their February 26 PPV card,” said MMA cuồng mania, “might have been helped by the war of words between Paul and Fury.” Sure enough, there seemed to be some conflict between the two men that led to the fight. The fact that the match actually went on seemed to last forever certainly had something to do with that.
“Last night was tough,” Paul said on the podcast. “It’s hard. It was shocking, there were so many emotions to deal with.” However, Paul did not want his opponent to take too much credit. “It has nothing to do with him,” Paul said of the loss. “Everything is about me.” Paul also added that he feels former foe Anderson Silva is a stronger opponent. “He’s not great at all,” he said of Fury. “I think Anderson is tougher than him… he throws a lot of punches, that’s his biggest thing,” (though he admits Fury has good strength).
“I think he’s a good kid,” Paul said of Fury, whom he spoke to after the fight. “He seemed so calm, in fact… we did a great job promoting it. There is a mutual respect there.” So it looks like the bad blood is gone – at least until the rematch.
“I’m sure I’m happy for him,” Paul said.
