Jack Christopher returns to work tab in Saratoga
Jack Christopher back to the work tab on August 6 at Racecourse Saratogahis first move since the third in TVG.com Haskell Stakes (G1) July 23 at Monmouth Park.
On the main track with jockey Jose Ortiz in the iron, son coached by Chad Brown Munnings gets clocked through four springs at: 50 1/5. He is targeting August 27 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes (G1), a seven-step sprint at The Spa that will put him 1/8 of a mile behind Haskell.
“He’s just got his first work back; he’s going a little slow,” Brown said. “There was some traffic in the lane there and (Ortiz) unfortunately had to get in front of him. I know I passed him on a busy day. He passed it and he galloped. part of the job; he’ll get more done next week.”
Owned by Jim Bakke, Gerald Isbister, Coolmore Stud and Peter Brant, Jack Christopher has won the 2021 Champagne Share (G1) at Belmont Park pass the first score of girlhood at Saratoga. He’s back in 2022 after missing the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) with a shin problem with two wins in a row: May 7 Pat Day Mile Stakes presented by LG&E and KU (G2) at Churchill Downs and June 11 Woody Stephen Stakes presented by Mohegan Sun (G1) at Belmont Park.
