iPhone lost in river at bachelor party found and returned to owner 10 months later – and it still works | UK News

An iPhone lost in a river during a bachelorette party has been returned to its owner 10 months after it was found – and it still works.

Miguel Pacheco, 29, of Drybrook, Gloucestershire, found the device earlier this month in River Wye and shared a photo of it on his local Facebook group trying to find the owner.

He took it home, dried and charged it the next morning, and couldn’t believe his eyes “it’s actually working,” the Hereford Times reported.

The post has been shared thousands of times by social media users and the owner – Owain Davies, 35, from Edinburgh – has been found and recovered his phone.

The screensaver shows a photo of a man and a woman and shows August 13 – the day Mr. Davies lost his phone while sailing.

“I know if I lose my phone, I have so many pictures of my children, I know I want it back,” Mr Pacheco told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

Mr Davies said: “I was in a two-person canoe and my partner probably shouldn’t have gotten up, and needless to say we fell in.

“The phone was in my back pocket and as soon as it was in the water I realized the phone was gone.”

He said he was impressed with Mr. Pacheco’s effort in recovering the device.

“My natural reaction was to deliver it to the nearest pub. There would be no need to use my air compressor to dry and dismantle it,” he said.
