Not too long ago, 2023 was still a long way off, but the game is now just over a month away from release and we’re super excited to be in it. Joymasher previously worked on the ‘n’ gun title Contra-inspired game Brilliant Chromewhich we scored an impressive 9/10 in our review.
Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider is inspired by classic games like Gaiden ninja and shinobi and features lightning-fast gameplay, gorgeous 16-bit visuals, and “crispy” sound. Danilo Dias, co-founder of developer Joymasher, said the following:
“From the use of traditional 90s recording techniques to the limited palettes that give the Sega Genesis a homey feel, we wanted every aspect of Guardian of Vengeance: Moonrider to honestly pay homage to the game-forming era that ultimately inspired us to create our own games.
“The classic simplicity of the action platformer continues to influence game design to this day, and Guardian of Vengeance: Moonrider is a tribute to the origins of some of the best classic experiences and our interpretation of how they might still evolve into the future.”
