Ikelite releases the TT5 Canon TTL fiber optic transmitter and RC2 TTL receiver for DS strobes

Ikelite’s DS series wardrobes have electrical partitions and are designed to be wired into enclosures similarly installed with electrical partitions. To enjoy class-leading automatic strobe exposure, all you have to do is add the appropriate TTL converter between the housing and the strobe(s), and you can quickly switch between manual mode and TTL mode. (You don’t even need batteries for the adapter because it’s powered by the strobe light.) But what if your preference is to connect a fiber optic cable between the case and the strobe light(s)? Now Ikelite has released two new products to make that happen for Canon shooters: Canon TTL TT5 fiber optic transmitter and TTL RC2 receiver.

The Canon TTL TT5 Fiber Optic Transmitter replaces the electrical bulkhead or 1/2-20 accessory port plug in your Ikelite housing (50DL, 200DL or 200DLM) and allows you to use the camera’s flash menu to switch between TTL and manual strobe exposure. In addition to supporting rear curtain synchronization, the device also supports high frame rate continuous shooting when used with DS160 or DS230 series strobes. The transmitter is powered by two CR2032 lithium batteries. The RC2 TTL receiver simply attaches to your compatible DS strobe(s), converting the electrical bulkhead into a fiber optic connection.

Available to order from Ikelite, the Canon TTL TT5 Fiber Optic Transmitter retails for $325, while the RC2 TTL Receiver is priced at $150. Note: Ikelite states that the transmitter is not designed for use with housings from other manufacturers. See more product information below.

The TT5 supports rear curtain sync and switching between TTL and manual strobe exposure using the camera’s flash menu.

The transmitter is powered by two disposable or rechargeable CR2032 lithium batteries (not included). The transmitter has a built-in power saving mode that helps extend battery life. Expect at least a week of diving with average use. We always recommend bringing a spare battery pack when traveling.
