IFAR will hold Friday Forum in April
The International Forum for Horse Care (IFAR) on February 18 announced that it will host its sixth forum as a series of two virtual webinars in April. Sessions, including a mix of pre-recorded content and live discussions, will be held on April 5 and 19 at 12pm BST (11am GMT) and each session pulls about two hours long. A record of events will be made available on the IFAR website. The IFAR conference in 2021 is also organized in a similar form. IFAR is working with the Japan Racing Association (Japan Advisory Committee on the Care of Racehorses) to organize this year’s event.
With the conference theme “Many Roads – One Goal”, topics expected to be covered during these sessions include traceability, moving horses off the track and conformity assessment. integration with other occupations, the use of Hybrid Horses in particular occupations, responsibility for end-of-life decisions, and the next generation’s perspective on aftercare. The full list of topics and speakers, as well as registration information, will be announced at a later date.
“Following the overwhelming response from last year’s virtual IFAR, our team is delighted to host another virtual series that is easily accessible to anyone who works with or benefits from Thoroughbred,” said Di Arbuthnot , the IFAR president said. “The theme we’ve chosen for this year’s forum highlights the wide variety of trails after racing, all with the consistent goal of horse interests being paramount. Topics are focused on. It will be of interest to all Thoroughbred Horse industry stakeholders, and we are assembling an expert panel of speakers to discuss these issues.”
Prior to the virtual conference series in 2021, IFAR was previously held in conjunction with the Asian Racing Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, in February 2020; The European & Mediterranean Equestrian Federation General Assembly in Oslo, Norway, in May 2019; Asia Racing Conference in Seoul, South Korea, in May 2018; and the Inter-American Conference in Washington, DC, in May 2017.
IFAR is an independent forum that recognizes the geographical and industry differences between racing countries and is designed to advance health care excellence around the world. Working with the International Federation of Equestrian Regulators, IFAR will raise awareness of the importance of welfare for Thoroughbreds, improve education about lifelong care and help increase demand for old racehorses in other equestrian sports.
