How to take pictures in foggy conditions

Foggy, foggy conditions can be a great way to breathe new life into landscape compositions, but they require a different approach than usual to create a compelling final image. This helpful video tutorial will give you some helpful tips for shooting in foggy conditions to ensure you come home with the best photos possible.

Coming to you from Mike Browne, this great video tutorial will show you some helpful tips for taking great landscape photos in foggy conditions. One trick that I think is especially useful is to use a longer focal length in such conditions. With a wide-angle lens, fog can take away a lot of the grandeur of the landscape and make it a bit difficult to read the frame. On the other hand, using a longer focal length allows you to pick out a single interesting element in the scene and show its interaction with the fog, giving it an atmosphere of drama and mystery, while encouraging the viewer’s eye to save and their imagination to fill in the missing elements.

Check out the video above for a full rundown from Browne.
