Because we can’t control the light or conditions in landscape photography, it’s quite important to plan ahead to ensure that the time of day and weather will suit the shots you want to create. . It’s important, however, to be prepared to be flexible if unexpected opportunities arise or the weather doesn’t cooperate. This great video discusses why being overly rigid can be detrimental to your work.

No doubt it can be frustrating when you put so much effort into planning a landscape photo and the conditions aren’t right, but trying to force the photo to exist can only lead to more more frustrated and the photo doesn’t work. However, you can make photos worth taking under any circumstances, as long as you create photos that work for the conditions rather than against them.
