As you will see, one of the best tools for this is a telephoto lens. It can be tempting in locations like Yosemite to whip out a wide angle lens, and certainly, there is nothing wrong with that. However, those are the sort of images viewers are more likely to have seen before. On the other hand, more isolated shots are less likely to be immediately recognizable, while the longer focal lengths may force you into positions that are less common and that offer a fresh perspective on well-known spots.
