Honda won’t just be for SUVs in Australia

Honda’s motobike do not consider citizen another “core” model, but that doesn’t mean it’s in the tight block.

The company is busy expanding the 11th generation citizen range, with the Type R being the final addition, but its main focus this year is SUVs.

It considers HR VUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU, CR-V and coming soon ZR-V – will fall between the two – as “core” models, with the Civic hatch and Fit sedan player support.

“We want to cater to a broader customer base. Obviously we’re focusing on SUVs, because that’s the fastest growing segment of the industry,” said Carolyn McMahon, boss of Honda Australia.

“While we are focusing on SUVs, that’s because we have the opportunity to expand the lineup, but I’m not saying we have plans to be an SUV-only brand.”

Ms. McMahon cited strong demand for the new Civic e:HEV hybrid in particular.

“[The Civic] Belinda Cusworth, general manager for customer experience said.

The company has not confirmed when next, the 11th generation Accord will launch locally.

Last year, the CR-V accounted for 57% of the brand’s sales in Australia. Honda sold a total of 14,215 vehicles and 8123 CR-Vs, with the HR-V coming in second with sales of 4717 units.

Overall, SUVs account for 90% of Honda sales in 2022.

Honda Australia’s passenger car line has shrunk considerably over the past few years.

The City, Jazz And NSX was cut in 2020, with adventure recovered in 2022.

The number of Civic vehicles has decreased compared to its predecessor, in part because of the significantly reduced lineup and significantly higher base prices.

It lost its sedan body style in Australia with the new generation, and is now priced at $47,200 – $15,000 more than its previous base price.

Accord sales fell every year after 2013, even after it lost its internal rival to the Euro Accord’s demise. They increase for the first time in 2022, though only from 90 to 96 units, making the Accord the lowest-selling model in its segment.

Honda currently has many passenger cars like Nissan, which only provide z And Leaf locally.

The Japanese rival brand controversially phased out most of its passenger cars in the 2010s, although it still offers a range of these vehicles in other markets.
