The highly anticipated June 1 fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol was postponed due to Beterbiev’s ruptured meniscus. Of course, this is bad news for fight fans as injuries have affected Beterbiev’s career 20-0. Furthermore, the world has been waiting a long time for Beterbiev and the 22-0 Bivol to square off in the ring. Best of all, the winner of the Beterbiev-Bivol fight will become the undisputed light heavyweight world champion. As things stand, Beterbiev – who has stopped every last one of his opponents at distance – holds the WBC, WBO and IBF titles while Bivol holds the WBA belt.

Luckily, there are still enough exciting matches left in the June 1 card, including Deontay Wilder vs. Zhilei Zhang and Daniel Dubois vs. Filip Hrgovic, to keep the show going. “The fight scheduled for Saturday, June 1 at the Kingdome Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia has been postponed,” Top Rank Promotions said in a press release, “after Beterbiev broke meniscus during exercise. The plan is to reschedule Beterbiev-Bivol before the end of the year and further details will be provided in due course.” Beterbiev-Bivol is expected to be knocked out in Saudi Arabia, and there is no reason to believe it will be knocked out anywhere else if this endlessly awaited fight finally comes to fruition. real.
