Hit the Road Withdrawn from Breeders’ Cup Mile
Grade 1 winner Hit the Road , one of the top California-based contenders for the $2 million Breeders’ Cup FanDuel Mile Presented by PDJF (G1T), has been withdrawn from consideration after spiking a fever, according to trainer Dan Blacker.
The scratch of the More Than Ready colt allows also-eligible Real Appeal to draw into the race.
“Sad to report we have to scratch Hit the Road from Breeders’ Cup as he has a fever,” Blacker announced Nov. 5 on Twitter. “So disappointed for his great group of owners. Unbelievably bad timing and bad luck. We will get him healthy, regroup and point for the next race.”
Campaigned by D K Racing, Radley Equine, Taste of Victory Stables, Rick Gold, Tony Maslowski, and Dave Oldmark, 4-year-old Hit the Road last ran third in the Oct. 2 City of Hope Mile Stakes (G2T) at Santa Anita Park.
