Berkshire HathawayThis weekend’s annual shareholder meeting will kick off with a big shopping spree.
Called “Berkshire Cheap Market,” the shopping event is a tradition at the annual convention. With more than 20,000 square feet of display space and more than 50,000 items in stock, the gallery showcases goods from the corporation’s myriad holdings.
This year, shareholders can purchase Warren Buffett-themed plush dolls from Squishmallows for the first time. They can also buy Buffett-themed clothing from Brooks Sports, as well as Berkshire chocolate coins from See’s Candies.
The event was held in downtown Omaha at CHI Medical Center. Only shareholders can participate in the event and claim the discount.
CNBC and CNBC.com will exclusively cover the annual meeting starting Saturday at 10 a.m. ET.
Squishmallows

This was the first time Squishmallows attended a Berkshire shopping event, and the toy brand was a big hit. The plush toys drew long lines at checkout with many shareholders snagging Warren Buffett’s cartoon dolls.

Berkshire joined Squishmallows through the acquisition of Alleghany, which closed in fourth quarter of 2022. While Alleghany’s primary business is insurance, the company is also a corporation. It owns several non-financial businesses, including Jazwares, a US toy maker with brands like Pokémon and Squishmallows.

Sweets at See’s Candies draw a big crowd again at “Woodstock for Capitalists”. A chocolate “Berkshire box” featuring a dancing Buffett on the packaging was a popular item at the stall. So did the walnut chocolate fondant, the Prophet of Omaha’s favorite. Buffett said See’s Candies sold 11 tons of crispy peanuts and chocolates at last year’s event.

Investors can purchase Warren Buffett sneakers, socks, and T-shirts from the Brooks booth. They can also take part in a 5K run co-hosted by the sportswear company and Berkshire in downtown Omaha on Sunday morning.

There’s a private shareholder-only shopping event at Borsheims, about 14 miles from the main convention center. Berkshire shareholders browse through one-of-a-kind jewelry, engagement rings and watches to buy at discounted prices. This seven-carat emerald ring from Ruchi New York is on sale for $400,000 with a 25% discount (pictured above, right).
