Helpful Tips for Long Exposure Seascape Photography
Long exposures of moving water are some of the most popular images in landscape photography, as they can smooth out chaotic motion and reveal patterns and movement that would otherwise be invisible. However, creating a successful long exposure is more than simply setting a long shutter speed. This helpful video tutorial, featuring an experienced landscape photographer, gives you some helpful tips for creating better long-exposure seascape photos.
Coming to you from Photography Perea, this great video tutorial will show you how to create better long exposure landscape photos. One trick that I think is particularly useful is to skip the two-second timer. Landscape photographers often use that timer because it allows the camera to stabilize for a while after you press the shutter button to ensure you get the sharpest image possible. With seascapes, however, you’re usually trying to time everything to match the incoming and outgoing waves, and that can get significantly more difficult when you add a two-second gap, a lesson that I learned the hard way. Check out the video above for the full list from Perea.
