Never do this with jewelry at a TSA checkpoint

This past weekend was my first time on a plane since signing up for TSA PreCheck and I had no idea what I was waiting for. By the end of last year, I was traveling almost once a week, and the constant pauses and pats down drove me crazy. I know something about pass TSA I was in a hurry, but when I was given the topic of figuring out what kind of jewelry you can buy, I was speechless. After a quick chat with Lisa Farbstein, TSA representative, I now know all the important details. Farbstein first gave me a sense of relief: “TSA officers don’t want pats and tourists don’t want to receive them.” So we’re on the same page.

Farbstein told me that while there were no specific instructions, she learned a thing or two in the role that kept her close to metal detectors and tubular X-rays. Her main advice is to avoid wearing anything bulky, but you should be fine with most of your everyday items. “People usually take off jewels that they don’t have to take off honestly. Sometimes they remove light earrings or pretty necklaces. They often leave this thing,” she shared. If you don’t want to lose your jewelry, wear it through security or put it in your hand luggage.
