Heat tie franchise record with 22 trebles made in a big win over the best Suns of the tournament



The Miami Heat didn’t hesitate to let it beat the league’s top Phoenix Suns

In their 123-100 win, the Heat set a franchise record with 22 3-pointers, just For the fifth time in franchise history, they’ve created multiple.

The duo Duncan Robinson and Max Strus did the bulk of the damage, combined with 12 of the 22 trios, with Robinson taking down 8/16 to finish with 27 points from the bench.

Their record trio came with 2:49 to play… from one of the team’s star acquisitions in Kyle Lowry.

Lowry, one of six Heat players to take down a 3-pointer in this game, finished with 14 points and 13 assists. Tyler Herro, who also hit three 3-pointers himself, scored a game-high 33 in 34 minutes coming off the bench. This is the fourth time Herro has scored 30 or more goals, all coming on from the bench.

The Heat are currently sitting at 25-15 for the season, continuing their chase in the Eastern Conference, despite the extended absences of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

Miami took down 15 of their 22 3-pointers in the first half and are on track to break the franchise (22) and NBA records (29).

In the second half in Phoenix, however, they defended 21 points in the first half, making just seven of 14 3-point attempts in the second half. That was a stark difference from the first half, when they made 30 attempts and made 15 of their 26 goals from outside the arc.

It was an explosive 38-point second quarter that saw them jump to a huge lead, someone they would never give up despite the Suns’ comeback attempt in the fourth quarter.

The Heat are one of the most deadliest teams from outside the arc this season, fourth in percentage 3 points (37.6), only the Bulls, Hornet and Hawks shot in a better clip.

In fact, three out of five times (including this one), the Heat have knocked 22 players out by three points since December 8, 2021.

Through 40 games played, the Heat ranked sixth in number of 3 points (13,6) and 14th in number of attempts. It’s a marked improvement from last season where they 19th in percentage 3 points (35.8) , 14th in 3-pointers and 11th in attempts.
