Is Lamar Jackson playing Week 16? Fake Injury Update for Ravens-Bengals

Lamar Jackson (ankle) missed the game against the Packers last week, and while most people think he is definitely ready for Week 16 against the Bengals, his condition is still very good. Jackson’s fantasy football owners are dying to bring him back to a win situation or go home to a fantasy championship game online, so clearly, his injury updates him and whether he’ll play or not is highly likely for all fantasy leagues.

We’ll continue to update this article with Jackson news until the official active/inactive report is released on Sunday around 11:30 p.m. ET. For all the latest fantasy updates, follow us on Twitter @SN_Fosystem.

Did Lamar Jackson play at Week 16?

WEEK 16 PPR RANKING:
Midfielder | Run back | Wide receiver | Tight ending | VND / ST | Kicker

UPDATE: Jackson did not practice on Thursday.

Jackson still out practice wednesday, and John Harbaugh said he’s considered “of the day” and the Ravens will “wait and see” how he does over the weekend. This was exactly the situation Jackson was in last week, so his availability could go one of two ways.

WEEK 16 STANDARD RATINGS:
Midfielder | Run back | Wide receiver | Tight ending | VND / ST | Kicker

The Ravens really need this win to stay on top of the AFC playoffs and the AFC North standings, so while they’d really like to see Jackson on the field, we now know Tyler Huntley is one possible backup plan. If Jackson is only 50% efficient, do we know for sure he is 100% better than healthy Huntley? He may be, but it doesn’t appear to be someone who is based on Huntley’s play in Weeks 14 and 15.

In the end, Raven will probably start Jackson if he can reasonably go, but that doesn’t mean he’s a “safe” fantasy game. If you’ve spent your fantasy draft capital on Jackson relatively early, it’s going to be very difficult to get him to this point in the season and we believe his chances of success are still high. His downside, however, remains as disturbing as it has been throughout his career. Even before his injury, he had a bad run of games with lots of turns and wasn’t the stellar factor we’re used to. He’s been a consistent opponent throughout his career, but if his ability to leap forward is limited we can’t expect a ton of imaginary success in a game with an eight defence. against fictional QBs.

Again, Jackson has been solid since taking on the role of starter in Baltimore, but this week he’s a more explosive pick. We still rank him as low level QB1 in QB12 in place, but it’s likely you have a quarterback ahead of him. If Tyler Huntley starts, think of him as a middleweight QB2. Apparently he also has an upside down move, but it’s hard to tell if his floor is lower than Jackson’s hit. It’s unfortunate that it all happens at this crucial time of the season, but it’s fantasy football.
