Devin Haney traveled to Australia last June to remove the lightweight title of his native son George Kambosos from his possession. The fact that Haney was able to do so in a one-sided manner makes one wonder why the impressive American had to travel to Australia to face the Kambosos again a few months later. However, a request is a request, and so Kambosos must return to Kambosos’ homeland to face him again. Haney was clearly the favorite player in Saturday’s rematch, but Kambosos stunned the world before that when he beat Teofimo Lopez in 2021. Many doubted he could shock the world. world again, but boxing can be a sport full of surprises. Haney-Kambosos 2 is scheduled for 12 rounds.
Kambosos started positively in the first inning. Indeed, he was able to knock out the defending champion at the end of the chapter. Haney was able to land himself well in the second. Having said that, the Kambosos looks much sharper than the first battle between the two men. However, by the third installment, Haney started shooting with speed and accuracy. The fourth witnessed Haney using the scope, receiving the material and pot shot at his men. Moving behind his shot in the fifth installment, Haney looks for opportunities to make his powerful shots.
By season six, things had fallen into a pattern, with Kambosos trying to get inside while Haney continued to rush in. Needless to say now Haney has a clear advantage. Kambosos is dropped around his man in the seventh installment. Meanwhile, Haney landed hard and at will. Kambosos, however, can fight Haney in season eight. The ninth round was a fight, with each one having to make a hard landing.
Haney lunges at a bloody Kambosos in the tenth. In fact, it looks like the Aussie game might be ready to bring the curtain down. However, he survived the round, and even went on to land well on Haney in the eleventh round. Kambosos was extremely aggressive in his twelfth year, but it was too late. Suffice it to say, Haney kept her title intact, thanks to an undisputed decisive nod from the judges.
