Hamzah Sheeraz could be a major star, says Frank Warren
Frank Warren’s summer show will take place this Saturday night at Copper Box in London with undefeated star Hamzah Sheeraz making his first appearance.
The towering 23-year-old is currently running at middleweight and faces Francisco Emanuel Torres for the vacant WBC Silver Middleweight title. Sheeraz Warren has been told great things from the get-go and the Queensbury promoters consider him to be a huge star.
Andi Purewal of Boxing Social asked Warren what he hopes to see from his rising talent.
“I just want to see him do what he does. This is his second match in middleweight. He’s comfortable with the weight, it fits him to the ground, he’s a big man. “
“I just want to see him go out there and do a job.”
Warren added:
“Every game he has he improves; he looks better and better. “
“He really matured as a boxer. He’s got a reasonable head on his shoulders, he’s a very reasonable guy, I think he’s got credit to his family and he’s got merit to boxing. “
“I really hope that he goes all the way because I think he is a British sportsman of the 21st century and he can come through and be a little bit special. He could be a great ambassador for boxing and certainly his sport and his country. “
Another Queensbury Promotions middleweight is the current British champion Denzel Bentley, who got his Lonsdale strap back in May after a horror movie with Linus Udofia. Could we soon see the title holder defending against Sheeraz? Warren replied:
“I’m sure that could happen soon. It was a fight that both fighters wanted. First of all, we will find a solution on the 16th”.
