Hall of Fame Jockey Prado announces retirement
Equestrian Edgar Prado has retired from the sport, the Hall of Fame racer said on June 20. He finished his career in ninth place in North all-time earnings. America for $272,008,849. The Peruvian-born is eighth all-time in North American wins with 7,119 in 39,725 races.
He last rode on January 6 at Gulfstream Park.
Prado won the 2006 Kentucky Derby (G1) aboard the Barbaro in addition to winning the Belmont Stakes (G1) twice.
