Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has turned down an invitation to the largest climate conference in the world, calling it a “clean green” forum.

Speaking at a Q&A for the launch of her new book, Thunberg announced she would skip the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP27, to be held in Ai Update next week, as it has become a forum for the attention of politicians.

“I will not be attending COP27 for many reasons, but the space for civil society this year is very limited,” Thunberg said.

“The COP is mainly used as an opportunity for leaders and those in power to draw attention, using various forms of greenwashing.”

“To change things, we need everyone – we need billions of activists,” she said on Sunday.

The move pushes her further than politicians in Europe, who have called for the protests to be banned.

I can’t help but think that trash talk to your closest allies is probably not the best way to build an army of “billions of activists”. Working with others produces better results. I mean look how close the WEF has come to world domination, by partnering with others. I’m sure the founder of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab believes that a lot of the people he works with aren’t perfect, but he made the best of the bad.

Greta covers other issues without being too specific. One of the likely unidentified issues is that it is quite difficult to safely reach Sharm El Sheikh by anything other than air.

Sharm El Sheikh itself may be relatively safe, if you ignore all terrorist attacks, but it is surrounded by some of the most dangerous places on Earth. Reaching Sharm El Sheikh safely via surface transportation is a challenge.

For example, British cyclist Dan Hood, who is trying to get to Sharm El Sheikh by bike, is currently Cycling through downtown Baghdad in Iraq. At some point, he will have to overcome the infected pirate Gulf of Adenor can pass Suez Canal Bridge at Al-Qantara. Not a bike path I wanted to try.

Endurance swimmer Lewis Pugh is trying to swim to Egypt – through some of the most polluted and pirate-infested waters on Earth.

Perhaps the world still has uses for air travel.

On a more cheerful note, it is rumored that Dr. Evil is about to have his own movie. Let’s hope the producers have the guts to make Dr. Evil an environmental leader – and give him a daughter.
