After making its intentions clear about facing Gennadiy Golovkin, Chris Eubank Jr’s team will this week begin negotiations to try to make the fight.
Following Saturday night’s win for Dmitry Bivol over Canelo Alvarez, a proposed rematch between Mexico and ‘GGG’ on September 17 is now off the table. Eubank Jr wasted no time going on social media and telling Golovkin he wanted to take on the WBA and IBF middleweight champions this summer.

All the plans will revolve around Canelo’s next move. The Mexican tennis player is eager to make the rematch clause to face the WBA light-heavyweight champion again. Bivol has said he would be happy to drop to 168lbs to take on Canelo for his undisputed super middleweight title.
“There’s one thing that Canelo says in the ring that he’s going to have a rematch with Bivol, but it’s another thing that does it in writing,” Sauerland added. “We will have to wait and see what happens there.
“We know the Golovkin people well. Of course, we always say he’s number 1 on the list. He’s the permanent champion in middleweight and that’s what Eubank wants. We will have to wait and see what happens between Canelo and Bivol. ”
