Golden Sixty returns to form in the President’s Cup

Sixty gold leveled his rivals at Sha Tin Circuit on April 3 with a familiar display of absolute dominance to reclaim his victory in the Presidents Cup (G2) for rider Vincent Ho and coach Francis Lui.

Erasing the memory of consecutive losses—the first that brought him to an undefeated streak at age 16—Golden Sixty boosted his earnings to HK$102,000,600 (US$13,018,745) with victory became the second horse in Hong Kong racing history behind Beauty generation to earn more than HK$100 million (US$12 million) in equity.

“Two times ago he fell too far behind and Vincent had to get out. This time, we put up barrier one – we had no choice,” said Lui. “He’s an honest horse, he can jump fast and you can put him in any position and you have to let him loose.”

Next up for the Golden Sixty is a chance to repeat the FWD Champions Mile (G1), with Ho delivering an ominous warning to potential rivals ahead of the April 24 race.
“He’s not at his peak yet, because he’s had a break, I would say today he’s only 70 to 80%, even though he had a great foot swing but he He still has something to improve on, which is the ideal thing to aim for later this month — this race will definitely carry him through,” Ho said.
On the way to victory, the Golden Sixty – in Stanley Chan Ka Leung’s match – hit a final time of 1:32.96.
