There are plenty of places around the world for people to follow their dreams, think of places like Hollywood, London, New York and Paris. But those in the racing and gore business have another destination on their quest for fame and fortune: Doncaster.
While the streets may not be entirely paved with gold, the South Yorkshire town is home to Goffs UK, which hosts the two-day Premier Sale August 23-24.
Among this year’s standout pedigrees is Mountarmstrong Stud’s Zodiac filthy out Jadanna (Lot 62), with siblings including Darkanna , Logo Hunter and Kodyanna ; a three part brother with Aljamaaheer via Too hot from Newsells Park Stud (Lot 74) and Isaac Shelby close brother of Al Kazeem from Park Wood Stud (Lot 75).
Marwell Park offers a Wootton Bassett pony of the Oaks heroine family (G1) Care about and Tuesday (Lot 129); this is a Thunder Night from a sibling to Anthem Alexander and Dandy Man (Lot 170), also from Mountarmstrong Stud; while Highclere Stud offers a King colt out of the listed deposit Tears of the Sun (Lot 274).
The portfolio has also been boosted by two lots from Ben Keswick’s Rockcliffe Stud, with Highclere delivered Iffraaj colt out Marsh Hawk the one boasting the biggest update is said to be the half-brother of scorer Markel Molecomb Stakes (G3) Trillium (Lot 113). The draft also includes the only batch provided by Frankel in the shape of a pony from the related Tai Hang Dragon (Plot 269).
Ed Sackville, Keswick’s blood counselor, said: ‘Trillium’s brother resembles her and looks like a real 2-year-old. “Trillium is still in great form and the current plan is for her to go to the Flying Childers Stakes and then, all right, Cheveley Park.
“With Frankel colt, we felt it could stand out here in Doncaster. The stallion needs no introduction and has grown from strength to strength this year. Just yesterday it had a winner. win group 3 out of six feathers; Perfect news in Tally-Ho Stud Irish EBF Stock Ballyogan (G3), and we feel this horse looks to be one of the faster stallions of the stallion.
Whitsbury Manor Stud Director Ed Harper gives Doncaster a draft of 5 strengths, including a closely related draft Havana Gray sister to Cazoo scorer Sandy Lane Stakes (G2) El Caballo (Lot 234).
Harper commented on the atmosphere in the sales area: “I’ve never seen the parking lot so crowded and we cleared the store from start to finish. At a quiet sale, that’s for sure. no, you need to stand outside the chat box with people, but today I could almost get out of the yard and leave people alone while they looked, which is a good sign. here and they all seem very interested. feel good with this place and i look forward to starting the discount.”
