GMC Canyon AT4X AEV 2023 Edition will buy you bragging rights
The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X has enough capacity as it is now, but GMC is cooperating with American expedition vehicle to increase the off-road capability of midsize trucks with the new Canyon AT4X AEV Edition. So far, the American automaker has only released a teaser that introduces the AT4X AEV Edition’s underbody protection, as well as the integrated front winch.
GMC is set to fully launch the AT4X AEV smack dab in midsummer, on July 6. That should give enough time to stay on the trails ahead of the cold season – otherwise it’s going to be detrimental. for the Canyon AT4X, anyway, it boasts the same capabilities of the highly rated one Chevrolet Colorado ZR2.
The upcoming Canyon AT4X AEV will add some new features to the AT4X package, though it may be more about bragging rights and ease of trail use than actual performance upgrades. The AT4X’s claim to fame is the Multimatic DSSV dampers, along with other chassis and suspension upgrades. The AT4X will likely add a few touches to differentiate it from the “regular” old AT4X, including stamped steel bumpers, integrated recovery points, front winch, steel skid plates and wheels. branded AEV.
It’s currently unclear how much the Canyon AT4X AEV will cost, but the Canyon AT4X starts at $58,490 including destination. The price difference or premium for the AT4X AEV can be more than $10,000. Canyon AT4X’s Chevy brother, the Colorado ZR2, has its own special edition that buyers can order by adding the Desert Boss pack, which will be available at an additional $9,295.

On the Chevy ZR2, the package adds things like beefier bumpers and underbody, unique wheels and unique branding throughout. It’s likely that the AT4X AEV will feature something similar, though it’s unclear if the AT4X will have the same sports bar with sleek sail panel as the ZR2 Desert Boss.
This marks the latest edition to the GMC truck lineup to get its own set of customizations courtesy of American Expedition Vehicles. GMC earlier announced the upcoming release of the Sierra 2500 HD AT4X AEV Edition. You might think of this latest AEV truck as a negative to that huge truck’s positivity, but now we all assume medium is the right size.
