Spence-Crawford undisputed title fight possible in October
A deal appears to have been completed for Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford to fight for the undisputed welterweight championship.
ESPN’s Mike Coppinger reported the news earlier this evening and revealed that the fight could be in October with likely host Las Vegas.
For a long time, it seemed like the two American stars would never fight each other due to their different motivating factors. But that all changed when Crawford became a free agent last November, ending his relationship with Top Rank.
The WBO weight champion was a guest last month on the podcast The Porter Way by former rival Shawn Porter and seems confident that the super battle against Spence will take place.
“I am 100% confident it will happen this year. We go to Vegas. There has to be somewhere neutral,” said Crawford, who has no interest in fighting in Dallas, Spence’s backyard.
After defeating Yordenis Ugas in April to add the WBA title to his collection, Spence made it clear he wanted Crawford to be next.
“Everybody knows what I want. I want the next Terence Crawford. That’s the fight I want. I came to get that damn belt. “
Spence and Crawford have 66 skirmishes between them, 51 wins in the distance, no losses, and have won nine world titles between them.
