George Kambosos Rematch may not happen
Undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney has said he will fight in October but is uncertain when he will face George Kambosos Jr.
Haney went to Australia early last month to win all four titles from his home side after one of the most dominant performances of his career.
A rematch clause was put in place during negotiations for Kambosos to have an extra shot Down Under if he is beaten. He lost and lost heavily with some observers claiming it was a complete close to 12 innings for Haney despite the score being 8-4 on two of the judges’ scorecards at the Stadium. Marvel.
In theory, a return war makes no sense given its one-sided nature.
The 23-year-old from Las Vegas is now back in the gym after a break and told FightHype that his October opponent might not be Kambosos.
“We do not know. We are considering our options. Maybe, maybe not. We just have to see what makes the most sense for me and my team. October, I will fight but we don’t know who yet.”
Kambosos can come to the US
“They can come here and get it. If we go through there, we have to turn back. You know what that means. “
“I took the short clubhead; I took less money for me and my team to beat all the odds and we won like he did with Teo. At the end of the day he’s well paid, he’s done well so if you want us back you have to do the right thing to get me and my team there again. “
Haney talked about a possible future fight with former lightweight number one Vasiliy Lomachenko. Ukrainians also hope to return in October after a while away from this sport. As for Haney, he’s still interested in making the biggest battles possible.
“I’ve been saying that ever since. If it makes sense, the biggest fight, then do it. And we can make it meaningful. There’s nothing we can’t figure out, come to an agreement and make these wars happen like I did back in Australia. “
