“Can’t just start crying and lose control”
Dillian Whyte has spoken out about Anthony Joshua’s antics in Jeddah’s bout after losing his rematch to Oleksandr Usyk – and believes his countryman should show more self-control.
Talking to IFL TVWhyte says he believes the pressure Joshua was under was too much for him on the night and it all fell apart after the decision was announced.
“He showed signs after the game that he couldn’t cope with the pressure and the stress.
No one wants to lose, no one wants to face failures but life is full of ups and downs. You must be able to deal with the ups and downs.
You can’t just start crying and lose control because you lost.”
Joshua was heavily criticized for his post-match speechwith some critics even describing it as a ‘crisis.’
Regarding Joshua’s performance in Jeddah, Whyte said:
“That’s it, he tried his best but clearly Usyk was better than him on the night.
It wasn’t a hard fight physically but it was a tough fight mentally for him. “
Recent citations would indicate that Whyte, who lost a back-and-forth bout to Joshua in 2015, is being considered as AJ’s future opponent in 2023, with promoter Eddie Hearn saying the rematch is “100%” a fight Joshua wants.
Both men are at a loss, with Whyte having been out of the ring since an injury-time loss to Tyson Fury at Wembley in April. However, “The Bodysnatcher” has been linked to a promotional deal with Sky, which would make it less likely to have a rematch with Joshua if signed.
Whyte spoke at Show Liam Smith vs Hassan Mwakinyo at the M+S Bank Arena in Liverpool.
