Ganyu can be an easy character to build in Genshin Impact

Every time you get a new character in The Genshin effect, you also get a to-do list. Depending on how far away you are in the game, it could be days or weeks until the person is usable. Especially if you don’t take the time to save before pulling them. But fortunately, some are easier to work with than others. Ganyu is a good example, as she’s not as hard to build for regular use as the others in the game.

First, it’s easy to collect material for Ganyu. She uses drops of Whopperflower nectar for her promotion and talent. Very easy to find, as enemies are frequently found in Mondstadt, Liyue and Inazuma. Her other main material is Qingxin. Now, at launch this flower can be annoying to farm. Like Liyue, it grows on cliffs and mountains in Liyue. You can now plant it in the Serenitea Pot, making it much easier to collect and store. To crown her, you’ll need the Mist Core. Cryo Regisvine is one of the easiest normal bosses in the game, which makes collecting those very simple. This leaves the boss of the Golden House fighting to collect Shadow of the Warrior items for her talent being the most tax-collecting item at the moment.

She is also good, as she can excel with several different signs. Of course, the ideal situation would be one that “makes sense” to her. This is Amos’ Bow. But a lot of other people also work for her. Given her reliance on Elemental Burst and Skills, the five-star Polar Star can be a lot of fun. Or, in the case of someone on a tight budget, the four-star The Stringless offers something similar. I like Royal Bow, due to its inherent attack bonus, and Focus increases her crit rate.

What’s also helpful is that, well, it’s easy to fortify Ganyu’s stats with Artifacts when building a build. With certain characters, you want to focus on specific stats. For example, you want Zhongli’s HP to be as high as possible. For Kazuha, Elemental Mastery is very important. With Ganyu, you have a little more time. You want her to deal as much damage as possible. Meaning you might want to prioritize things like her attack, critical damage, and crit rate. But given the importance of her attribute attacks, focusing on things like Cryo damage or Elemental Mastery could also work. Likewise, the Prototype Crescent is good if you use Charged Attacks. I used Windblume Ode, due to the way I relied on her Elemental Skills and its enhancements. One could even use Aloy’s Predator bow and pass, taking advantage of its Cryo damage effects and aiming shots.

Ganyu’s nature also means there’s less pressure to pursue Artifacts for her build. If you don’t want to spend a lot of time farming to get perfect ones, maybe there are two or more stats you want with substantial stats, you don’t need to spend time honing them. She’s good to go as is. I had a Wanderer’s Troupe subgroup on Ganyu when I first got her to level 70 and her attack passed 1,200. It also means you can just pick a set that suits the role you want her to play and run with it. What am I doing now? Going with the Blizzard Strayer, since I got the Cryo damage bonuses, it increased her Cryo damage and ideally I also got a crit boost.

That’s another reason why Ganyu can be pretty awesome. She can take on a lot of different roles. A lot of people like to use her as their main DPS character. She’s great for being a character on one’s field to deal a lot of damage. I’m in a situation where I recently got both Itto and his Redhorn Stonethresher. I also like to use Klee as the main for fun. So what should I do with Ganyu? I’m using her for additional damage. I would ask her to use an Elemental Skill or Burst, then send Itto or Klee out to attack. What if I want Ganyu to deal massive damage? Then I let Kokomi around use her Elemental Skills so the enemies would be frozen, making it easier for Ganyu to catch them.

It means Ganyu may have less work to build than others in The Genshin effect. That’s something I fully appreciate, coming from my desperate search for defense-related and critical bonuses when building Itto in 2.4. Surely she will still take her time, Mora, and experiment with strength-enhancing books. You will still have to get all the materials for advancement and talent. But what she needed wasn’t too hard to find. You can prioritize many different stats, depending on your playstyle and goals. This could mean you’ll have a better chance to start using her as an avatar sooner.

The Genshin effect available for PS4, PS5, PC and mobile devices. It will also come to the Nintendo Switch. Ganyu rerun banner will be available in The Genshin effect until February 15, 2022.
