Gaganyaan launch date uncertain but in-flight menu has been decided, check it out


The DFRL said the astronauts in Gaganyaan will get to eat a variety of Indian dishes in their latest reveal. Here are all the details.

Gaganyaan, the first manned mission to space, has yet to have a launch date due to testing of its safety systems. However, the in-flight menu for the three astronauts has been decided and it will be very different one. In a latest revelation, the Defense Food Research Laboratory (DFRL) Mysore, a laboratory under the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), has confirmed the menu for the 7-day trip to space. This pillar is for Indian astronauts as it flies for several years. Menu items include vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian dishes.

In conversation with Financial Express, space the firm disclosure all the details regarding the on-board food items that the astronauts will have. Minister of Defense R&D and DRDO President, Dr G Satheesh Reddy said, “Developing food consumption in microgravity is a new and unique challenge, and our scientists are working on it. take advantage of this opportunity. It is said that there will be six different menus expected to include items like upma, poha and idli for breakfast. After that, the astronauts will have a choice of meat and vegetarian biryani for lunch. For dinner, they can choose chapatis and some gravy with vegetables and meat processing.

That’s not all. Astronauts will also have the option to have halwa or any other alternative as a desert. There is also a selection of tea, coffee and juice as a drink. The DFRL says that all of these dishes will be considered mildly spicy and that someone who wants to make it tastier, will have a pack available to do the same.

It is also said that the first human mission will last a week, which is why all food items will be sold hydrated. Crew will be required more country and warm it up.

This isn’t the first time DFRL has researched food items for space. Back in 1984 when Squadron Leader Rakesh Sharma went into space aboard Russia’s Soyuz T-11 spacecraft, the department made special mango bars for the trip. DFRL also has experience developing food items for weather conditions for soldiers set in Siachen Glacier, submarine sailors and scientists on expeditions to Antarctica.
