Funfetti DIY homemade marshmallows for the holidays
Full disclosure: I am a funfetti addict. Normally, the store-bought super-sugar cakes at kids’ birthday parties really don’t appeal to me, but when does funfetti come along? Resistance is futile. Since we all obviously need a little more fun (fetti) in our lives, I dreamed of a way to enjoy these rainbow colors through holiday season with (get ready for it) Christmas tree marshmallows! Well, you can really give them any shape you want, but the trees are pretty perfect, don’t you think? Have you ever made homemade marshmallow? They are a relatively new thing to me, but I really wonder why it took me so long to get on board since they are so easy. You will be shocked to see the simple combination of gelatin, sugar, and Corn Syrup combine to do something this fluffy and delicious. I tell you pure magic.
It’s a good thing this recipe makes a lot of it, because you’ll want to put them in steamed cocoa mugs every night at least once a week and pack them in pretty little bags to give as gifts to all your lucky friends.
Once you’ve mastered this basic recipe, go crazy by combining flavors! Add some cocoa powder to make these chocolate chips, swap out crushed candies for stuffed animal-shaped candies, or try orange or almond extracts in place of mint.
Oooh, how about using these beauties as the centerpiece for a second holiday-themed situation? There are a lot of funfetti ideas in my brain right now.
Cheers to a sweet holiday season and I’d love to hear from you if you try this homemade marshmallow! Continue reading the recipe…
