Fortinet Championship 2022: Max Homa, Danny Willett take the lead after Round 2 action in Napa
NAPA, Calif. (AP) – Max Homa switched to defending his title at the Fortinet Championship, shooting 5 under 67 on Friday to share an initial 36-hole lead with Danny Willett in the PGA Tour season opener.
Homa, a two-time winner last season and selected as captain for next week’s Presidents Cup, has an eagle, four birds and a condor – for the first time in a week – for a total of points. for two days is 12 under 132 at Silverado Resort & Spa.
“The course suits my eyes,” says Homa. “I hit a lot of wedges today and I hit really well, so when I get a lot of wedges from straight lines like this, I feel like I can hit the pegs.”
The four-time PGA Tour winner played collectively in California.
“I have a great support system here,” said Homa, who won the 2013 NCAA individual title. “I have friends and family here and many, you know, people who appreciate that I went to school here.”

Willett has won eight titles on his European tour, most recently last October at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
He had eight birdies in his second round and was without a bogey for the week.
Willett, who has only six top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour since winning his only major, is very good. . “The game on the field is quite sharp, the short game is quite sharp.”
The first-round leader, Justin Lower, had two hits after 71. His best run in the previous 28 PGA Tour events since 2013 was a tie in eighth place.
“It’s always hard to track a lap that’s too low with another good lap or even lower,” Lower said. “But I’ll get one today.
Jason Day, Harris English, Charley Hoffman and Webb Simpson were among the players who missed out.
