NEW YORK — The Game Between Atlanta Braves And New York Mets scheduled for Saturday was postponed because of rain.
It will be conducted on August 12 as part of a two-headed tournament at Citi Field, with an opening beginning at 1:10 p.m. ET and a closing at 7:15 p.m. ET.
The postponement until August means the Mets ace Scherzer max will not be eligible to feature in this series against National League East rivals Braves. The three-time Cy Young Award winner is serving a 10-game ban imposed by Major League Baseball after he was deported for having illegal substances in his hand while pitching during an April 19 game at Dodger Stadium .
Scherzer’s penalty ends Sunday, and he is expected to start Monday’s series of finals against Atlanta. But with the rain, Monday will now mark his 10th game and he won’t be allowed back into the mound until at least Tuesday night next year. Detroit.
Tylor Megill (3-1, 3.96 ERA) is expected to come out on Saturday for the Mets. Atlanta won the opening match 4-0 on Friday in continuous showers during a game called after five innings because it rained.
Rain continues through the night and into Saturday, with rain all day and heavy rain on Sunday, when teams are scheduled to play at 1:40 p.m.
Strider (3-0, 1.80) were lined up to start the Braves leading the NL East. Runner-up for teammates Michael Harris II for last season’s NL Rookie of the Year, Strider had a hard time hitting the target in the eighth round and hit 13 points first Miami Marlins in Monday.
The Mets are in decline, having lost 5/6 games. The Braves have won seven of the eight previous meetings between the teams since last year, including a crucial three-game win in Atlanta near the end of last season that sent them to a fifth straight division championship.
