Press ReleaseLondon, February 6 – Tony Abbott, former prime minister of Australia, has joined the Board of Directors of the Global Warming Policy Fund (GWPF).
Tony Abbott was prime minister of Australia from 2013 to 2015 and a member of the Australian parliament from 1994 to 2019. He is director of the Ramsay Center for Western Civilization, serving on the board of the War Memorial. Australia and is an advisor to the UK Chamber of Commerce. He is a patron of several charities, including Soldier On, the International Association for the Promotion of Sports, and Global Development Aid.
Dr. Jerome Booth, president of the GWPF, said:
“I am delighted to welcome Tony Abbott to the board of the Global Warming Policy Foundation. As a former prime minister, he brings global vision and policy insight at the highest level. He will continue to support our goals and aid our efforts in fostering a culture of debate, respect, and scrutiny in the policy areas currently dominated by intolerance, high emotions, moral reasoning and confusion.”
Tony Abbott says:
“I am delighted to be joining the GWPF as it continually brings realism into the climate debate. We all want to save the only planet we have, but this should not be done by impoverishing the poorer in richer countries and stifling poorer ones. Right now, in countries like Australia, the effect of climate policy is to make electricity cheaper and less reliable instead of cooling the planet. We need more genuine science and less group thinking in this debate – which is where the GWPF has become a laudable consistent voice if alone.”

One thing I found interesting about the last CPAC was a senior conservative, who on stage appeared to be the middle man, but inwardly admitted that they wanted Tony Abbott back.
I wonder how many other Australian conservative politicians yearn for the days when they could Revealed at CPAC without being booed by the audience for their weak policy positions?
Appeasement just seems dishonest. Honesty is a rare and valuable trait in politics.
If Tony Abbott takes his hat off to the ring again, the green extremists currently running Australia will have a real fight on their hands. Last time Australia had a carbon tax, Tony Abbott bring a landslide victory for conservatives, against the incumbent Green Labor coalition.
