Ford Fiesta is also just a few days away from being killed in Europe
Late last year, we learned that Ford plans to kill off the Fiesta. The American automaker stopped selling the Fiesta in the US, so it wasn’t a huge loss for us, but it killed any false hope that Ford might one day see the light and decided to give us this lovely little car back . Although, you never know. It could always return one day as a tram. But now, we’re just a few days away from the final Ford Fiesta perhaps rolling off the production line.
car report that friday will be the last production date of the Ford Fiesta. After 47 years and eight generations, the Fiesta will be gone. But Ford reportedly has no plans to sell the final Fiesta. Instead, the final two Fiestas will belong to the automaker’s heritage fleet, with one staying in Germany, where the Fiesta is built, and another going to the UK. So maybe you’ll be able to look at the last Fiesta ever built if you attend a special Ford event or something like that.
As Autocar reported in December, Ford plans to use the Fiesta manufacturing plant to produce electric vehicles instead. At the time, Martin Sander, head of Ford’s European electric vehicle division told Autocar: “We decided to build our first large displacement electric vehicle in Cologne. The time has come when we need space to build because we are turning the Fiesta factory into an all-battery factory. This is why we had to make the decision that we had to stop producing the Fiesta.”
In the future, Europeans who want an affordable, compact Ford will have to opt for the Puma compact crossover. That’s probably what most of them would do. But still. We’ll miss out on the new Fiesta we were never allowed to buy in the first place.
