The German automaker was later informed by one of their suppliers that there was also a problem with the pulse inverter’s software that was also causing the ID.4 to stop working.
The recall applies to 20,904 ID.4 units manufactured between May 26, 2020 and January 20, 2022. The good news for owners, however, is that all that is needed for a fix. the problem is software update. The bad news is that it can’t be done over-the-air, so they’ll have to schedule an appointment with a Volkswagen dealer to install the update. Cars manufactured after January 20, 2022 are already running the latest software and will not be affected.
