What are some of your most embarrassing or memorable memories from your photography journey? Believe me, I could write a book on my own, but right near the top of the page, I have a complete lack of knowledge about colors in images. I didn’t know that different cameras and camera brands, as well as different lenses, produced different color layers in the image. In fact, when I first started, I was so naive that I didn’t even know what an actor of color was. It wasn’t until a very good photographer friend of mine pointed it out to me the day before that some of my surf pictures tended to look a bit bluish. Then I found out that it was a certain camera and lens combination that was the culprit. Since that day, I have been working on various techniques for color correction, especially in post-production.
And that brings us to this amazing video by Unmesh Dinda from PiXimperfect, in which he shows you how to fix even the harshest colors that can, at first glance, appear completely irreparable. Okay. The example he uses is an image with an extremely strong blue color. What I really like about this video is that he goes through some common techniques and explains why they don’t work. Then he takes you to this very simple Photoshop technique and it works great. You need to have the latest version of Photoshop to try this out, so check it out and let me know what you think.
