“It was her first three-eighths and she worked really well,” coach Rudy Rodriguez said. “She galloped: 52. She looks beautiful.”
.’s 4-year-old daughter Great patriot caught four races in 2021, including two classified shares. On her fourth outing since her maiden break at Belmont in May, she put on a stylish display when she landed the Longines Test Stakes (G1) at Racecourse Saratoga. Bella Sofia then beat the older mares and claimed a career-high 111 Equivalent Speed Number taking the Gallant Bloom (G2) handicap a Belmont ahead of Breeders’ Cup.
She finished her 3-year-old campaign with fourth place in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) at Del Mar.
Rodriguez said he is hoping to map out a route back to Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint this November at Keeneland that will include stops at Belmont and Saratoga.
“We’re going to be patient with her and let her let us know when she’s ready and then we can work out a plan,” Rodriguez said. “Our goal is to bring her back to the Breeders’ Cup in a nice and fresh way.”
