First Tyler Tribe to Win for Sharp Azteca

The 2-year-old Iowa cross-breed took off after starting a 5 1/2 degree dirt test on the young and clicking sections: 22.07, :45.16 and :57.20 on its way to a final time of 1:03 ,64 on the fast track under driver Jordan Kylee. He paid $7.60 for a $2 winning ticket.
Tyler’s Tribe broke his maiden record of 16 3/4 length in his only other start, the June 20 special girl weight dropped 4 1/2 length at Prairie Meadows for Coach Tim Martin. He raced for Martin and Thomas Lepic and raked in $106,554 for his two wins. Bred by Clifton Farm & Derek Merkler, it was purchased by Lepic and Martin for $34,000 from Clifton’s shipment to the Iowa Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association in 2021.
Sharp Azteca, a son of Freud, won the 2017 Cigar Mile presented by NYRA Bets (G1) with five stages at Aqueduct race track and was runner-up in that year’s Las Vegas Breeders ‘Cup Dirt Mile (G1) competition at Del Mar. He won five graded bets and made over $2.4 million while finishing 14 times in 17 starts. He stands at the 2022 season at Three Chimneys Ranch with a $5,000 promotional fee for booths and nurses.
