FFVII Honeybee Inn Dance remake took the most time to prepare

Final Fantasy VII RemakeOur development team did a lot of work to remake Wall Market, but the song and dance made up the bulk of it. A new one blog post from Square Enix reporting on the development of the game shows that the Honeybee Inn in FFVII remake takes the most prep work of all the sequences in the chapter. The post also sheds more light on the boss battle with fan-favorite enemy Hell House.

As with other entries in FFVII remake The series is reviewed, the blog features insights from members of the development team. This section includes input from Co-Director Motomu Toriyama, Composer Mitsuto Suzuki, Battle Director Teruki Endo, Designer Naoki Hamaguchi, Cutscene Director Hidekazu Miyake, and Character Designer Roberto Ferrari.

Note: This blog and post contains savers for FFVII remake The Honeybee Inn part, as well as for Chapter 9: The town that never sleeps.

As with other parts of FFVII remake, the Honeybee Inn and Wall Market areas are approached based on a central idea. The idea is to give players a deeper insight into the lives of the slum dwellers of Midgar. In the game, this is demonstrated in side quests and quest chains for the residents. Quests also have an additional effect on the outcome at the time the player enters the Honeybee Inn: They affect the outfits Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith wear during that part. Area 7 side quests affect Tifa’s outfit, Area 5 quests affect Aerith’s outfit choices, and the Wall Market itself (Area 6), which determines Cloud’s appearance.

When remaking Honeybee Inn for FFVII remake, the team decided from the start to recalibrate the facility. In Final Fantasy VIIHoneybee Inn is clearly a brothel, but for Rework, do it again, the team chose to reimagine the venue as more of a pub, focusing on “maximum visibility”. This includes some songs and choreography, naturally. The process of consulting dance shows, editing together the footage, lyrics and choreography, is quite time consuming. In fact, according to Toriyama, the pre-production preparation takes up “the longest period in the entire development” of Wall Market. By the time development ended, the final scene had many references to Cloud’s actions from the original game as well as in the remake, with special poses and moves.

Final Fantasy VII Remake available on PC, PS4 and PS5. Its sequel, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is under development. Photo of Cloud in one of the outfit choices from the Honeybee Inn Parts are available for pre-order.
