Today marks the 21st anniversary of the first day Deadly frames (Project Zero in the west), launches on PlayStation 2 and Xbox again December 13, 2001.
To celebrate, producer Fukaya and director Shibata cho Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse took to YouTube to discuss the upcoming Switch remake and to thank fans for their continued support throughout the years.
Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse first launched on the Wii in 2008, albeit only in Japan. Remake, slated for release on March 9, 2023will mark the first time the game has been made available to a Western audience, bringing with it improved visuals, new outfits, a photo mode, etc.

“FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is a traditional Japanese horror adventure game. As the girls explore the western-style mansions and abandoned hospitals on Rōgetsu Island, they will rely on them. Moonlight and a weak flashlight to search for clues The story progresses by uncovering relics such as old articles and notes that help the girls unravel the island’s secret past. As they explore, the girls will also face a host of spirits, who will need to use a Fatal Frame franchise classic, Camera Obscura, to repel the vengeful ghosts, sealing their powers. Throughout the game, the girls will need to equip stronger lenses and change different types of film to capture the most powerful spirits, while also using the camera to take pictures. “the unseen things” to help them find the evidence needed to recall their haunting past.”
