For some people, adopting a dog is for companionship and the love and friendship they can bring. Others look for more than one working dog that can help them get work done or provide protection for their family.
A dog named Morocho takes his protective role so seriously that he doesn’t hesitate to take action against a fearsome Puma. The wildcat is chasing his human sister and her friend as they pick figs from a tree on their family farm.
The afternoon began with the Martines enjoying time with a few friends on their farm. After enjoying their company for a while, their daughter Sophie and her friend Yoli decided to venture across the farm in search of fig trees. Figs are Yoli’s favorite fruit and she knows exactly where to find them.
Fortunately, the couple did not rush off alone. Morocho, family Dogo Argentino, has accompanied them on their adventure.
Since this isn’t the first time they’ve found figs, the girls know that the best ones will be found in the treetops. So, without hesitation, Yoli started climbing in pursuit of the best fruits. But as she went up, they heard noises from above on the branches. Turns out Yoli wasn’t the only one who decided to climb that particular tree.
A puma was perched on a branch above and had spotted both Sophie and Yoli. The Puma is one of the largest predators in South America and can easily injure or even kill both girls.
As Yoli tried her best to lower the branch, fear struck her, and she lost her strength. She fell to the ground and landed on her back. But she didn’t lie there for long, and both girls ran towards their families as fast as they could.
With a puma in hot pursuit, they screamed as they ran back to the center of the farm. Morocho does not hesitate to attack and does his best to protect the members of his pack.
Assuming the riot was caused by a snake, Yoli’s father ran as fast as he could towards the girls’ screams. He saw Morocho lying on the ground, with some serious wounds. Luckily he’s still alive. But puma doesn’t work well either. Its lifeless body lay nearby.
Dogo Argentina, sometimes called The Argentinian Mastiff or Argentine Dogo, is a breed of dog developed in Argentina primarily to demonstrate the strength, power, and bravery required for hunting in the big game. They are large, strong, and athletic, but they have a reputation for being gentle guardians who are “loving” to their families.
Thank goodness the girls had the super protective and strong Morocho by their side!
